You've been tickling me all day with things i didn't know about plants, Kentucky, or you, Sharon, and it's been so much fun. I had a crab apple in my back yard in Upstate New York (mountains!). My sister loved to eat them, but after a bite myself I couldn't do it. But there were plenty of orchards in the rural areas around us, so we would go apple picking every fall, sometimes with a friend or two with us, picking and picking and eating and eating. One ride back was spent grabbing our favorite and yelling, "MACK-intosh!" before scarfing it between giggles as fast as we could, over and over... I don't remember a stomach ache. No apple compares to those fresh from the tree.
