I live in the county, not in city limits, and here it is county regulation that you have to have 3 acres before you can keep chickens. People do it anyway, but I guess if the county wanted to cut down on it, they could. I think it is none of their business if I have an elephant in my yard. As long as I take care of it and keep it on my side it is of no one's concern. :(

It is my idea that organic labeled produce could be anything, maybe the exact thing off the same truck as the 'regular' produce. Because who's gonna know? Who tests this stuff and how often? There is no oversight. I don't see anything wrong with trucking produce to a farmers market from another state. Many states are not able to adequately grow specific produce and so bringing it in from another state is necessary. There are some countries that have higher agricultural standards than the US. Just because a product is from another country does not in itself mean the produce is more unsafe or unhealthy. There are even some countries that have stricter standards on GMO and pesticides than we do. I agree that the pesticide is a serious problem and the GMO as well. But on the flip side of the coin, there is a huge population to feed. It is not feasible for every family to grow their own produce, meat and dairy ect. It is impossible to hand-pick worms, mites and grass hoppers off of hundreds of acres of crops. So what is the alternative to using pesticides? I know there are more organic/safer products and sprays to use, but why aren't they being used? Cost? less effective? no lucrative profits for big companies is most likely why. So my point is, people cannot just complain about how bad it is, there has to be an alternative solution offered publicly.
