I think the only thing I did correctly was use seeds that are viable. A few years ago I noticed that my purchased purslane plant reseeded in neighboring pot, so I figured where the seed pods were and collected some seeds. Then just scatter teeny seeds on wet soil in a pot outdoors, place a saucer (or dogs extr water dish) on top of pot to protect. Then after a week remove saucer and exposé seedlings to light, watering daily.
