Deb, Nelly is a member of group 2—Early to midseason flowering and then rebloom in August/September.
The first flush of flowers appear on the previous year's growth. This is followed by a second flush flowers appearing on the new growth. I have found it to be very vigorous and tolerates my whacking. Since we removed the filberts and shade I have noticed the flowers fade to a soft pink as they age.

The Jackanii is a type 3 and blooms right after. It also seems to be vigorous. If I was to plan it out I'd have a 2 and 3 close together for continuous blooms and not have planted my Montana (type 1). I am not a planner though. Everything is sale rack and impulse buys or freebies from other Gardener's.
