In the FAQ section of AHS :What performance characteristics should I look for in a daylily?
Vigor and Stamina:
Well immediately I thought of heart rate, blood pressure and cholesterol measurements, along with the ability to run a long time on a treadmill while keeping a smile the entire time as twelve kids look on.
That was not exactly what they suggested it meant for a daylily,
Not being susceptible to diseases (that certainly makes sense) root rots and spring sickness
The ability to grow and multiply under good conditions sort of goes without explanation, but I was surprised that here they thew in not being invasive with underground rhizomes (roots I call runners).
Being easy to transplant without getting weak, wilting or dying with the ability to thrive and grow stronger each year. That certainly would be part of Vigor and Stamina (I guess surviving over the years could be considered stamina, I thought of it more as longevity than stamina. But how else would you measure the stamina of a daylily?
Especially when they exclude... Rolling on the floor laughing the "runners"?
