Do you keep labels on your seedlings, perhaps stating that their "mother" plants were? Unless you pollinated under carefully controlled conditions, I guess the "daddy" plants were one-night-stands. Whistling

Ken, we only had the one seed pod in 2004, so there was no mix-ups there. We also only had 2 plants blooming at the time, and at this point we can see the traits from both parents throughout the babies...so we are very sure of who the parents are.

I have pictures of the seedling trays sprouting and I wonder which one is Kiya? Laguna? Khira etc. We did number the babies in their pots and took growth pictures...but after they went in the ground...they got mixed up. There was so many and over the years of emergency dig-ups because of surprise freezes, we lost the early tracking. We would use a sharpie on the trunks which only last 2 years ..then fades.
This time I labled the seeding tray into rows and columns. We got plants from 3 pods this year..one named, the other 2 were unnamed babies, so i used a location. (we know the plants, but they did not have a name yet). One seed pod was by the pool Spa and the other was back by a big Palm. So the names on the babies, which I include on most pics...looks like...Spa 4b, Palm 2c,...now I can trace pictures all the way back to when they first sprouted.
No way of knowing the donor now because we had tons of blooms, so we will have to wait and see how they bloom to take guess at that. But we are excited about Spa, because half of those babies have very dark red trunks! The seed pod developed right by a blooming Kanoehe Sunburst, Hurricane, and an Irma Bryant! Hurray!
