Daylily Fans,
You have mentioned several reasons to join and attend clubs. People are wonderful to meet and to ask questions. We've learned much by attending meetings. Hearing a speaker and seeing what they are doing makes their flowers more meaningful to us. We get many ideas from others (I just sent the Greater Cincinnati clubs practice of using color cards for drawings to the two people in charge of our Door Prize Table) that make our local club's meetings much better. Our club gives away DLs each meeting and in our September MARS auction (you earn points/dollars for certain club activities during the year) last year we gave away 215 DLs. Our meetings are social events as we add new things each year to make meetings more fun. Visitors from other clubs have joined our club because we have so much fun. 6-7 years (perhaps less) ago it wasn't nearly as much fun, but our club has evolved. We have adopted ideas of other clubs by visiting them. The Middle GA club is 150 miles away, but we go to almost every meeting because we enjoy the club so much. Our local club has grown from about 10-12 active members to 70 in the last few years. A member suggested we host the Spring Regional a few years ago and we thought he was crazy. This June we did host it, and we had 40 of our club members register for it and help work to make it a very good one. We gave away over 100 DLs to 120 attendees (not counting their Registration Plants) and auctioned another 122 DLs that were donated. Being a member of (3) clubs has been a wonderful experience for the Bishops!
