I didn't do so well last year with Begonia 'sparks will fly'.
My 2014 planting of Sunpatiens is looking good and is a great choice for an upside down pot. Unlike traditional New Guinea impatiens which need protection from full sun, SUNPATIENS SERIES impatiens were developed to thrive in full sun. They also have proven to thrive in hot and humid summer climates. Full shade should be avoided. They tolerate Rabbits and I have been growing them successfully in the garden and other containers as well. I received them this year as a passalong but would purchase them again for a bright shot of color in the garden. The miracle grow potting soil with water retention I used last year I believe rotted the begonia. This year I swapped out the soil for a well drained soilless potting medium. I used Osmocote fertilizer when I planted them and have used Miracle Grow liquid feed twice this year.
