I grow mostly old garden roses which are all growing on their own roots. Grafted roses don't do well for me - not because they are grafted but because of who they are, I don't tend my roses well enough for hybrid teas or floribundas to thrive for very long. As Lyn has said, it depends on the rose. (And the person growing it.) One can hope that the new varieties being offered own root have been proven to do well in that form.
