I personally think there is a lot is misinformation when it comes to cypress harvesting. There are regulations in place not only in FL but all the southern states that protect our wetlands. There are also federal regulations controlling cutting in wetlands.

I know in Mississippi and Louisiana, far more cypress growth takes place than that lost to harvesting, something like 5X. Also, approximately 2% of the harvested board feet of trees in Louisiana is cypress and of that, only 20% is used as mulch. That's a miniscule amount of board feet. As often as not, pine is planted where cypress is harvested but not replanted.

Cypress mulch lasts the homeowner longer than either "hardwood" or pine mulch and is resistant to terminate infestation. Those two facts alone make cypress a valuable mulch.

If one wants to worry about loss of trees, he/she ought to spend time worrying about the loss of our hardwoods, not cypress.

That's just my opinion.

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.
