I have a similar heron here on the mudflats. Sometimes they are lumped with your species.

Today, I heard my first returning cuckoo of the season. A male Australian Koel calling in the distance. This is what he looked like last summer. Large, black and fiery eyed.

The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.
