Thanks Dave! Guess we are a couple of days into September.... Glare

Does anyone know what type of wren this is? I have been trying so hard to get a pic of it. Finally got Only one today (and it's a little blurry), Sorry!

Dave: Thank You! for the September thread! Love the Goldfinches but oh my, that Nuthatch is really beautiful!

Cat: That cutie might be either the Carolina Wren: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Carolina_Wren/id
or possibly the Bewick's Wren: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/bewicks_wren/id

Thanks Lin! They look an awful lot alike, I can't figure out which one it is. Hopefully I can get some better pics.

Bewick's Wren is not in Illinois. I'd say it's a Carolina Wren.

Edit:

OOPS! I meant to type Indiana, instead typed Illinois.

I think Cat is in Indiana and I thought Bewick's Wren was found there but this site for Indiana Audobon shows (right hand side of the page) the 50 most common backyard birds of Indiana and only lists the House Wren and Carolina Wren: http://www.indianaaudubon.org/Birds/BackyardBirdsofIndiana/t...

Yes, I looked it up on Whatbird.com and they are not listed as in birds for Indiana. http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/135/overview/Bewicks_Wren.a...

I see the house finches are getting in on the action now too. Thumbs up

Have you ever tried attaching Plato's leash to your belt or a belt loop? Frees your hands up.

I was able to teach our last dog Buddy to stand still while mommy took pictures. Our dog Gus has no concept of standing still if he is on leash! Whistling Hilarious!

My backyard birds have disappeared for some reason ... maybe they are vacationing somewhere cooler since we've had temp's in the mid and upper 90ยบ lately. I filled the feeders and they stayed untouched for two days, until last night when I heard something outside the window and spotted Raccoons feasting. I did spot a Northern Mockingbird in a tree yesterday afternoon but only for a brief minute and then it was gone:
