the poisonous snakes are definitely a big drawback to the south, in my opinion! Snakes in general don't bother me, but like you said, here in MI they are not dangerous. I lived in S. Carolina for a short time, about 6 months, and hated the fact that going for a little walk in the woods was so potentially hazardous...
