I have read lately and seen of TV where hackers steal all your data and you have to pay them to get it back if you don't have backups. Things like music, photos, financial data etc. That has been going on for years the article said. Anyhow, for the past several years I have been using thumbdrives and external hard drives with my desktop.
I bought a 64 gig thumb drive to put all my music on so I can play it in the car , bought it on sale off the internet for just over $20.00, reg. price was over $60.00. I also keep a couple of 16 gig. thumbdrives on hand, never have enough backups. I have my computer set to automatically back up all my data to my external hard drive every sunday night late, that way it doesn't interfere when I want to use it. I was given a nice laptop, but as much as I thought I would enjoy it, I found myself never using it.
