Well, the seeds I gathered had been on the stalks over the winter. And they were from some very awesome hollyhocks. I also planted 'store bought' seeds. Still nothing. Tony just built me a new raised bed and I've installed drip irrigation in it, so I may try again there... then I know the seeds won't get dry.
