I have never heard of 2 momma birds sharing the same nest before!
Dear Brenda you can start the dahlias inside now if you have a really sunny window. They tend to get leggy inside and develop weak stems if they are inside too long though. Do you have a hot sunny spot outside that's +70 during the day? If you can put them outside during the day and bring them in at night they will be stronger.
