Mine actually started out in regular potting mix with coarse perlite added to open/drain better. That was a disaster, or at least I blamed my dead/dying plants on the media. Late summer I mixed 1/2 Douglas fir bark orchid media (medium) with that potting mix and repotted every single plant. So far the plants have done much better with that 50/50 mix. I do fertilize every week or so with 1/4-1/2 dilution of orchid fertilizer. The same thing happened with my vanilla orchids too, and they were all re-potted with that same 50/50 mix. Again, the same result. Lots of nice, vigorous growth. I will have to decide whether I want to re-stock those Sarcoglottis and planiflora plants this spring. I simply can't grow EVERYTHING I want, particularly when I am purchasing 98 seedlings of each variety/species at one time. I have 196 seedlings coming in on Friday! They are fiddle leaf ficus and staghorn fern seedlings.

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.
