Whether right or wrong many people using the common names get the Lion's Ear and the Lion's Tail mixed up. Lot's of misinformation on the web about these two plants. I try to remember that one is perennial and on is an annual.

I see on one of the links you provided that they are calling it Leonotis ocymifolia/formerly Leonotis leonurus/Lion's Tail; the other link you provided calls it Leonotis leonurus/Lion's Ear.

In the ATP database they list Leonotis ocymifolia/Lion's Tail, while Catalogue of Life lists Leonotis ocymifolia as an accepted name, not the same plant as Leonotis leonurus.
