Leonotis nepetifolia self seeds occasionally here. The Leonotis l. I have to purchase from an outlet, it's a one time bloomer here if ground planted. Not familiar w/ the Leonotis m. designation. The Leonotis l. variety can have some hallucinatory properties if given the right conditions to grow. Reputedly used like marijuana in Africa.
It certainly is a neat plant (either of the two I'm familiar with). L. nepetifolia gets up to maybe 10 ft, the other, only waist high.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.
