My dad gave me this shrub from his yard more than 20 years ago. He always called it a fire thorn although it's no pyracantha. It's always bloomed in mid to late April. For some reason I had thought maybe Indian hawthorn but it doesn't fit any online pics. Could this be a Japanese quince? Any help is appreciated.

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize that we can't eat money. Cree proverb
