Oh Pheadra, I just saw your post. Poor you! I had 2 of my best brugs succumb to winter rot! And what makes it worst is that I would walk by daily and watch it go down the stem and did nothing!

Is it humid in your GH? Humid and cold seems to bring on the winter rots. Hard to stop it unless you can stop those 2 things!

In the past I have cut my brug WELL below the rot just above a node and immediate covered the open wound before any rot pathogens can enter with that white powder rooting hormone. It has antifungals in it. I have even used that black tar spray to totally cover the wound IMMEDIATLEY after the cut but it looked terrible for months with that black stuff. I have also used Elmer's Glue. The trick to it cover it before it gets reinfected. I would also spray the whole plant (after my wound coverer was totally dried) with an anifungal spray. I use Immunox.
