It's amazing how quickly the flowers open . Turn your back for a day and the bees will have got there first . Pop a paper bag over the flower head on the semps you have selected as mummy and daddy . Or if it's in a pot bring indoors to a window .

On the subject of noids , I learned the hard way and spent many months trying to re identity what's what , they look different week to week . Nowadays I draw a plan of the bed naming each cultivar and it's position in addition to a physical label .
