Jean!...I might have just found it! I need to go outside to look because I think mine is a little more red, but, it might be this:
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Violacea')

Mine isn't as purple, but the season and height are more on par. I need to give this some more thought...if it isn't Challenger, Gay Troubador, Caballera, Autumn Red, or Violacea...then it must be a parent, sibling, or child plant of one because they are all SO CLOSE!
