Sue is right. It is very difficult to ID with all the thousands of daylilies out there.

I immediately thought of Mary's Gold, which was registered in 1984. Even though your picture is a lighter shade, that could just be the camera settings. MG in my garden looks more orange in person, but please check the database and you will see that there is a big range of yellow/orange shades of MG:

I have Mary's Gold and it definitely gets around 36" tall and the blooms are 6.5", so your description is right in that area. The branching on the scapes of MG is not the greatest, I would classify it as top branched. And the blooms are very easy to snap off, more so than a lot of other daylily blooms. Here is a picture of it from my garden a few years ago:
