The following are just a few suggestions based on the description you've given but it really could be one of thousands of plants. If you get a chance in the next few days to post a photo or two I'm almost certain we can figure out exactly what plant you have.

Castor Beans (Ricinus communis) also has the common name of Caster Oil Plant.
Tree Philodendron (Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum) and many other Philo's have aerial roots.
Weeping Fig (Ficus benjamina) can also have aerial roots.
Ming Aralia (Polyscias fruticosa) has celery looking leaves.
