When you change anything in your profile, you must click on "save changes" at the bottom for the changes to "stick". Sometimes that little button hides
The number of posts can be set by the individual. I set mine to 20, preferring to page through posts. Some like 100, preferring to scroll. The majority of threads aren't 100 posts long, though some are.
