Melanie, from the looks of your bee's shiny bottom, it's probably a carpenter bee but which one I don't know- with its pretty blue wings.

I've been seing wasps with bluish wings. They really like the mint. I tried to get a picture of this one but it just would not pose for me and the blue wings didn't hit the light right! Glare
