My mom had one Peace rose in memory of my grandfather - she took it from his house when they sold it. In the house, she had a philodendron and an African violet. My dad planted veggies sometimes, but we were gone all summer, so we just got whatever grew in the weeds when we got home. Rolling on the floor laughing

My father's mother was a gardener. She planted 100 olive trees in Greece and veggies and flowers in America.

My mother's father and his mother were gardeners. My great grandmother took all the Department of Agriculture courses on gardening that her local extension service offered. She died in her 80's riddled with cancer from using heaps of DDT.

I must come by gardening from the grands and greats. My grandfather was 59 when I was born. He wasn't doing a big veggie garden like he had during WWll, but he planted annuals and tomatoes every year that were purchased in flats that would be dunked in a pail of water to give a drink to before they got planted.
Don't make fear based decisions.
