I'm sure you are correct , about them "trading iris"........there are several *mistakes* (at least in MHO !) that are common to both sites. And, as to "telling " them.......I've tried that with one of them, Sticking tongue out , but, maybe I'm not "diplomatic" enough Shrug! . Or, perhaps my e-mails didn't 'go through", as I never had a reply Shrug! .
Of course, when you are 'convinced' that you are correct (and we all "lean" this way !) , you tend to stress only the points that tend to prove your case, and overlook the points that don't !
I have about 1200 different"named" cultivars , and there is "room for doubt" involved in all of them ! Mistakes happen......errors in marking, plants growing together, different "eyes" reading the AIS descriptions of the iris, or seeing the photos. Even those iris I have acquired directly from the hybridizer can have 'mistakes' happen along the way...if not in THEIR garden,.....certainly in MINE ! The best we all can do, is be vigilant in our observations of the plants, comparing them to not only the pictures available, but the WRITTEN descriptions, as well ( and , since ALL the databases can have errors this is sometimes sort of a challenge !), be 'diplomatic" in our queries about ones we are "suspicious of', and open minded when someone else questions OUR iris. Bottom line, we ALL make mistakes, and , if discovered, we ALL need to be a part of the 'correction process"......every one of the data bases , and every vendors websites have them.........and they are all 'vetted', and monitored, and that process has to continue, if we ever want to have "the most accurate information". A big job, that will never be done ! And, remember, there is no 'shame" in making an error....if you have "reasons" to back up 'your" claim....talk them out, have a discussion, either prove, or disprove , the ID, make corrections, if needed, and get back to the "One name, One iris" concept. I tip my hat to you.
