This guy is planted in a spot that's totally, totally unimproved..rotten soil that was covered by asphalt for many years. He seems to be doing okay, this is second year in the ground.

An interesting tidbit. Rebecca has a nursery in Gold Beach and her uncle is a very, very experienced gardener. She mentioned to me that he gathers pieces of asphalt when he comes across them as they are good for the plants.

Becca, does he bury these...or set them around on top of the soil beneath plants, what? I mean, I've got stacked peices of asphalt that I might start unstcking and hiding beneath some of the shrubs...
I could be wrong...
