I believe this a programming requirement made necessary because I wanted to use the same common name (Elephant Ears) for multiple custom databases (Xanthosoma, Alocasia and Colocasia). Dave is always accommodating but there are limits.

When these custom databases were first created we used the genus name alone to identify them. Elephant Ears, however, is the most frequently used name for all three of these genera. Most discussion threads lump them together as well. My hope is that those new to them can more easily find "Elephant Ears" in our database and see the differences as well.
