[ Rose (Rosa 'Frankly Scarlet') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

Really lovely red color and form on this nice rose. Frankly Scarlet grows in both my back yard and my front yard as I have three of them. I liked the one that I planted so much that the following year I got two more of them. Frankly Scarlet is a Jackson & Perkins rose that stays small, not growing tall at all. I think mine are only about 3 feet tall. I do spray them with systemic fungicide as it is very humid in my Long Island, NY garden.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Fragrant Plum') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

Fragrant Plum is one of the mauve roses I tried to grow. It does okay here, but I can't say that there is anything outstanding about it for me.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Fragrant Cloud') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

A really pretty hybrid tea. I grow it in my south side rose garden. Like all my HTs, it needs to be sprayed with a systemic fungicide here in my humid Long Island, New York garden.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Flower Carpet Apple Blossom') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

I love Flower Carpet Apple Blossom. It does not need any spraying, always fungus free. The soft-colored full pompon-type flowers really are the color of apple blossoms. It blooms a lot and doesn't need much care, just some trimming to keep it in bounds.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Falstaff') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

This is a rose I used to grow. I got very tired of the fact that Falstaff wanted to grow into a monster shrub that only bloomed once in spring for me and did not want to repeat. I was really lucky to see even a bloom or two after the spring flush. I just got tired of struggling with it. I dug it out and tossed it and planted the Romantica rose Traviata in its place instead.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Eyepaint') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

I wanted Eyepaint for years after I saw pictures of it growing in other people's gardens. Finally I was able to get my own and plant it in my front yard half-round planters area. It really is as pretty as a picture.

Maybe some people are not that fond of single roses. I really like them. Something about the form and bloom is so striking and pleasing to look at.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Eureka') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

Such a stunning rose! I have two of them planted out front in Floribundaville in my front yard. I found mine as a Jackson and Perkins milk-carton rose one spring years ago. Shades of yellow, but not exactly a yellow rose. Such interesting coloring. Lots of blooms too, and Eureka grows really well. I do spray for blackspot in my humid Long Island, NY garden. My roses need spraying to stay fungus-free.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Eglantyne') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

Such a charming old-rose lookalike. Both the color and the blooms remind me of an old English garden. Not that I have ever visited an old English garden, but Eglantyne should certain be grown in one. Mine grows in my Long Island, NY, garden instead.

[ Large-Flowered Climbing Rose (Rosa 'Dublin Bay') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

This one has always been on my wish list, but I could never find it. I don't grow many climbers anyway. I just don't have the set-up for them, but I have always wanted to try this one.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Dr. Huey') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

I have grown Dr. Huey, but never on purpose! Every so often a grafted rose dies and this is what shows up as the rootsock grows. At that stage I dig it out and toss it.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Disneyland Rose') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

I love hot colors, and hot colors in roses are no exception for me. I think the colors of Disneyland are stunning. The blooms certainly pop. I spray this rose with fungicide, as I do all my roses, because it is hot and humid here in the summer. They need the spraying to stay blackspot-free.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Diana, Princess of Wales') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

Diana, Princess of Wales is a beauty in soft shades of pink outlining a whitish center. A grand rose named for a grand lady. Mine grows in my south side rose garden.

Rita, located on the north shore of Nassau County Long Island, NY zone 6/7, where it is humid in the summer and roses always need to be sprayed with systemic fungicide to avoid blackspot.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Delany Sisters') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

I don't usually comment on a rose I don't currently grow or have not grown in the past, but I have seen many pictures posted of Delany Sisters in bloom in various forums on the Internet through the years. Each time I think, what a stunning rose, and I wish I had one in my garden, but I have never seen it for sale locally at the many nurseries that I visit each spring. If I did, I would buy it right away.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Crimson Glory') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

Another of those stunning deep reds. Blooms are on rather short stems, but there are many of them, so I don't care. I grow it in my front yard along with many other roses in a mix of colors, but this red really pops out and attracts my attention.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Country Dancer') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

A nice pinkish-colored rose that does well here in my humid Long Island Garden. Probably doesn't need spraying, but I spray all my roses, so Country Dancer gets some spraying too.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Cotillion') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

I bought Cotillion as a Jackson & Perkins milk carton rose under its alternative name of Perfume Perfection. This is my favorite mauve rose of any that I have ever grown and one of my top ten all-time favorites. It blooms and blooms and blooms. Plus, Perfume Perfection is a very good name for it, as the scent is divine.

Mine is planted in my very front yard rose bed that I call Floribundaville. That way, just about everyone that passes by on the street can see it, and I have gotten many comments and questions asking what that stunning lilac-colored rose is.

I do spray all my roses with fungicide as it is very humid here in my Long Island, NY garden. Perfume Perfection needs the spraying to stay blackspot free, just as most of my other roses do. Otherwise, it is easy and fuss free. Have to repeat again that I just love this rose.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Comte de Chambord') | Posted on February 7, 2014 ]

I personally am not a fan of old garden roses. I grow modern roses. But I did read read about this old garden rose and how fragrant it is and that it reblooms, so I decided to try it. I had it for some years, but after a while I dug it up and gave it away to a friend. In rainy weather the blooms did not open. They kind of got stuck past the bud stage and then would rot instead of opening. So I had brown mushy blooms, and I do spray my roses with fungicide, but Comte de Chambord was very disappointing in my garden.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Chrysler Imperial') | Posted on February 6, 2014 ]

Vivid Red blooms. Very pretty. Does not grow very tall for me. Another rose that definitely needs spraying. I am growing Chrysler Imperial in my south-side rose garden along with some other red hybrid tea roses, but it is the shortest of the bunch.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Charles de Gaulle') | Posted on February 6, 2014 ]

I grew Charles de Gaulle for a number of years, but unfortunately it did nothing to really impress me. Eventually I dug it out and tossed it as it didn't thrive for me.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Carpet of Color') | Posted on February 6, 2014 ]

I love this one. Yes, the blooms are small, but there are so many of them and the blooms are so pretty. Very difficult to describe the blend of colors. Unfortunately, it does seem to need spraying to keep it blackspot-free here in my humid Long Island, NY garden.
