[ Snow Crocus (Crocus tommasinianus) | Posted on October 12, 2013 ]

I could hardly believe how small the blooms were on the tommies blooming this spring. First time for me planting Crocus tommasinianus. I did, however, love the soft lilac coloring. I think these need to be planted in large groupings to have a nicer impact at bloom time.

[ Tulip (Tulipa 'Akebono') | Posted on October 12, 2013 ]

Planted Akebono last fall. Bloomed this spring. I have to say the ruffled, full flowers are so pretty they stop me in my tracks. My neighbors flipped over how beautiful this tulip was. Lasted a long time in bloom also, which is always a plus. I don't know whether Akebono will return for me or be a one-shot deal, so I have bought more bulbs and will be planting it again this fall.

[ Crocus (Crocus vernus 'Twilight') | Posted on October 12, 2013 ]

Twilight is well named. I have never seen another crocus with as deep a color or anything near the midnight blue that Twilight is. Really pretty blooms.

[ Snow Crocus (Crocus tommasinianus 'Ruby Giant') | Posted on October 11, 2013 ]

Ruby Giant is well named as it has a much, much larger flower than common tommies. Also, the color on Ruby Giant just shimmers. I bought lots more of these to plant this fall after I saw how pretty the ones I had were this spring.

[ Crocus (Crocus ancyrensis 'Golden Bunch') | Posted on October 11, 2013 ]

I bought crocus Golden Bunch from Brent & Becky's last fall. I loved it so much when it flowered this spring that I planted more this fall. A very cheerful yellow, but a small flower that looks best if you have groupings for impact.

[ Crocus (Crocus nivalis 'Tricolor') | Posted on October 11, 2013 ]

Crocus sieberi Tricolor is such a cheerful spring flower. I love the lilac coloring and the color at the base of the open flowers. I only had a few of them. Had to buy more to plant this fall.

[ Dutch Iris (Iris x hollandica 'Apollo') | Posted on October 8, 2013 ]

I bought the mixed Dutch Iris collection from Schreiner's Iris Gardens some years ago and planted it. Apollo was one of the ones that were included. It blooms each spring and is the first of my Dutch irises to bloom.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Evening Drama') | Posted on October 8, 2013 ]

Evening Drama is another of the lovely tall bearded irises that i purchased from Schreiner's Iris Gardens. It has been doing fabulously in my garden ever since.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Rio Rojo') | Posted on October 8, 2013 ]

Rio Rojo is a star in my iris garden. It increases nicely and has made a big clump. Lots of those stunning dark purple blooms. The first year I had it, I wasn't impressed, but the following year and ever since it has been stunning!

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Abbondanza') | Posted on October 8, 2013 ]

Abbondanza is a very pretty yellow tall bearded iris.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Visiting Royalty') | Posted on October 8, 2013 ]

I bought Visiting Royalty from Schreiner's Iris Gardens a few years ago. It has done very well in the garden. Love that dark two tone bloom color of the lovely flowers.

[ Turnip (Brassica rapa subsp. rapa 'Snowball') | Posted on October 2, 2013 ]

A nice basic white variety of turnip.

[ Tulip (Tulipa humilis 'Lilliput') | Posted on October 2, 2013 ]

I saw the pictures of Lilliput at Brent & Becky's and I had to have it. Brillant red. Tiny blooms, though, so I will be planting them here in the front of my raised garden where I can easily see them.

[ Greigii Tulip (Tulipa 'Mothers Love') | Posted on October 2, 2013 ]

A lovely early blooming tulip that is perennial. The only place I was able to find Mothers Love was at Brent & Becky's. Loved it so much this spring that I bought more bulbs this fall to plant more of them.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Gypsy Romance') | Posted on October 1, 2013 ]

Beautiful iridescent sheen on the purple colored flowers of Gypsy Romance.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Trumpet Call') | Posted on September 30, 2013 ]

Trumpet Call is another of the bonus plants I received from Schreiner's Iris Gardens. I love Schreiner's Iris and I love the vivid yellow flower of Trumpet Call.

[ Sapphire Berry (Symplocos paniculata) | Posted on September 30, 2013 ]

Sapphire Berry is a medium-sized shrub, covered in white blossoms in spring. Later berries develop. Those berries turn the most vivid and stunning shades when autumn arrives.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Starring') | Posted on September 30, 2013 ]

This is a very dramatic flower. I have read that Starring can be difficult in some gardens, but I have never had any problems. Mine grows well, increases nicely, and blooms with those attention-getting flowers.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Got the Melody') | Posted on September 30, 2013 ]

Got the Melody is another of the bonus plants I received from Schreiner's Iris Gardens. I love Schreiner's Iris and I love the bonus plants they always send.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Spot Starter') | Posted on September 30, 2013 ]

Each year Spot Starter starts off the Tall Bearded Iris season here in my garden by being the first to bloom. I received it as a bonus plant in one of my Schreiner's Iris orders.
