Tubular flowers are three inches long!

[ Single Late Tulip (Tulipa 'Antoinette') | Posted on April 30, 2013 ]

Antoinette opens yellow and becomes infused with pink as the blooms age. A multi-flowered tulip, it has a long bloom period. The leaves are edged cream. Highly recommended!

[ Lily (Lilium 'Foxtrot') | Posted on December 22, 2012 ]

This is the original lily of this name, hybridized by Edward McRae and registered by the Oregon Bulb Farms in 1986.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Friso') | Posted on December 20, 2012 ]

This lily is thought to be the same as Silk Road.

[ Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum 'Sweet Baby Girl') | Posted on September 22, 2012 ]

A very tasty, sweet cherry type tomato, about an inch across. I have to admit they never make it into the house. My two toddler grandchildren love to graze the garden for these when they visit. They also resist splitting on the vine.

[ Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum 'Cuor di Bue') | Posted on September 21, 2012 ]

An Italian heirloom, the name means oxheart. It is indeterminate; open pollinated. Cuor di Bue is good for sauce, salsa, and just plain eating. The odd shape resembles a puckered up pouch.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Brushstroke') | Posted on July 22, 2012 ]

Brushstroke opens pastel yellow and lightens to a light cream as the bloom ages.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Pensacola') | Posted on July 11, 2012 ]

Note the hairy buds on this one.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Bonnie Jean') | Posted on July 11, 2012 ]

The intensity of the pink color varies quite a bit with age of the bloom, starting darker then lightening up.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Big Bang') | Posted on July 11, 2012 ]

Shade or cooler weather may bring a wash of pink and cream to the petal tips.

[ Japanese Iris (Iris ensata 'Jodlesong') | Posted on July 7, 2012 ]

Unregistered. Sold by nurseries under several names including Jodie's Song and Activity.

[ Japanese Iris (Iris ensata 'Dramatic Pattern') | Posted on July 7, 2012 ]

This one has quickly become one of my favorite Japanese irises. A tetraploid, the blooms last several days and lighten up from the edges towards the midvein prior to the bloom weakening and wilting.

[ Siberian Garlic Chives (Allium nutans) | Posted on July 7, 2012 ]

Bees just love this plant.

This lily lightens somewhat to a yellow orange color as the bloom matures. It is described as slightly fragrant in the Lily Register.
