My losses weren't so much compared to the number of irises that I now have. Still, it is a disappointment.

If I had more than one, and the other one made it, then I won't list it.

I guess I am lucky as before 2 years ago, I had about that many irises altogether! (I must'a caught the IRIS VIRUS!)

I lost Good Show, an orange self from 1988, so no great loss. It just dried up.
I have a couple that have bloomed and not put out any increases, but I haven't given up hope. I'll plant them in my potato field, and maybe they'll put out some increases.

I lost one over the winter. I'm grateful that a friend on the NGA forum gave me it, but I had a feeling it would not grow. After several months, Silverado (which is the iris I lost! ) still only had one stringy like root. No fan, and the rhizome was very dry. It had died.

There are a few others that are in the 'questionable' territory;

*Epicenter or Sharp Dress Man. They shared a tire bed, but someone moved the tire and haphazardly ended up all over the yard. So now I do not know which one is which, but one of them does have a bloomstalk coming forth STILL. That is a trooper iris for sure. The other, both increases and the fan all shrivled back and seemed to die, as well as little root systems, but it seems to be making a recovery a little bit. I sure hope it does, because I think Epicenter and Sharp Dressed Man, whichever the struggling iris is, is fantastic!

There are some more that I can't recall off the top of my head, but they are doing decent.

This coming transplanting season, I'm going to majorly overhaul and grab out the rhizomes from the mulch beds because post-planting, we now have chickens and goats running all over the yard, and the chickens specifically seem to mess around and dig up rhizomes and/or tear them up. I love my chickens, but now it will be difficult to figure out which iris is which until they bloom at some point. Before we had them, it would be super easy for me to remember where I planted everything, but now, with so many being dug up and placed back, some may be lost to become a noid until they bloom, and others may be lost forever.

I plan to make wooden raised beds using some old scraps and put them all in there so that they can comfortably make their homes and stay clear of ravaging avians.

I didn't intend for the mulch beds to be ravaged by chickens, but we *have* to let some chickens free range apparently, and they just tear up my work and mosey along. It is sad to me that quite a lot are still uprooted or overturned and I want to fix it right now, but I can't for several more weeks. Just hope they hold out.

So far I don't think I've lost anyone except possibly some tiny historics my chickens buried. I'm hoping I found them all when I replanted them in some of my potted roses. I also haven't seen much in the way of stalks so far. I think I may not have the bloom season I had last year. I'm wondering if I should fertilize. I have composted cow manure in the beds and don't really want to fertilizer unless it's necessary but maybe they do need a boost. I wonder if the difference is weather or soil conditions? I did put down a thick layer of wood chips this spring but not on top of the rhizomes hmmmmm.

I haven't even taken time to pull the tags, and get a "count", yet...…...I'm hoping that, maybe, a few may "resurrect themselves" .

Arlyn ~ I know what you mean. I was hoping the same thing on some that had a tiny bit of green. But you never know until the end of the season as some are late and look awful until they are about to shoot up a stalk.

My list will make you want to jump in bed and hide under the covers.

I have seen it, and it made me sad. I hope you can get every single one replaced and have them do much better than before!

I'm not sure how many you gave me are now dead for you, but I'd love to give them all right back for you when they are able to be divided.

I think this lost list is current, but there are still several more that I'm keeping an eye on (that aren't listed here). In their weakened condition, I don't know if they'll make it through our Summer heat. So I'll pot them up and do what I can. So this list could keep growing, but I hope it stops here.

The ones marked "***Name" are the ones I want to replace. The others I either have a backup of, or I'm letting Mother Nature cull them for me.

I know I lost 'Camera Ready' and 'Chevalier de Malte'. I'm sad about CR... it was a replacement from a generous NGA and it didn't survive the winter. That's twice CR has died on me. It's such a pretty iris, I'm debating if I should continue to try to grow it. What's that saying... "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me."? What about three times?!

I see a few on there I could replace so long as they don't die for me too. Namely, Calamity Carol (it's listed as dead/struggling in Rob's plant list), Terracotta Bay, Golden Panther and Metro Blue. Let me know if you (all) need some I have. Especially if you gave me the iris. I would happily pay postage if it meant you got a dear iris back!

I had a few beds that were underwater from the amount of rain we had in a short period of time. You can see some natural springs that popped up in a couple of the beds. I even dug trenches to move the water out, but it kept coming and coming.
