My first are the Ficus variety, Fiddle Fig, Rubber plant and Ficus Benjamina. They make good indoor trees.

I also like the Corn Plant and Dracena plants.

What I like about indoor tree type plants is that they can look very good mixed with other smaller plants like the Peace Lilly plants or ZZ plant. If you have good lighting or the energy to run lighting you could make a nice indoor garden using a mixture of house plants to bring the outdoors indoors and have a summer feeling in the winter months. I also like palms of many kinds. Another I like is the dumb cane plant I'd really like to create an indoor rock garden using dumb cane plants and then mixing in some smaller plants. I'm mainly into low light tolerant house plants.

Whats your favorite house plants?

Looking around the house, I realize four of my favourites are Peperomias. I have "Hope" (peperomia rotun difolia), "Happy bean" (peperomia ferreyrae), "Watermelon" (peperomia argyreid), and one I don't know the common name of (peperomia incana). They have all done well inside and easy to propagate into new plants with stem cuttings. My Staghorn fern is also a favourite as it's so unusual looking. Then there's my Ming aralia which I've have for 20 years. Oh yes, my ponytail palm is also very cool. And of course I love all the plants that have been gifted to me as they bring fond thoughts of the people who gave them.

Do holiday amaryllis count? They bloom during icy cold winters outside in a nice warm spot in the house, offer lots of smiles and flower power. Hurray!

The plants that always bring color and easy care are prayer plant (Maranta leuconeura). It gets its common name from the fact that its leaves stay flat during the day and then fold up like praying hands at night. There are dozens of leaf designs .

Hard for me to choose favourites, I love them all for different reasons!
I guess if I had to choose it would be Aeschynanthus, Hoya, Aglanomena, Sansevieria, and Begonia, particularly the canes. Also Hippeastrum. Hurray!

So many beauties that always bring happiness. I tip my hat to you. it is tough to just pic one favorite. some house plants have been around longer than pets.

So true on all levels.

My oldest monstera, aloe brevifolia in my avatar (that's a quarter for size reference, not a dime), my oldest jade plant (about my age), are all older than most of my employees much less my pets.

I can't pick one, my fav is the one I'm looking at or thinking about @ the time. And so many different reasons why each is loved. There's the toughest, the prettiest, the oldest, the most reliable, the biggest, the smallest, the most floriferous, the most moved, the most propagated, most pleasant to touch, the one with the best scent... just picking the winner of each category would be tough.

After looking more unhappy than not the past few yrs, this oyster plant (Tradescantia spathacea) has really exploded this summer. I put this pot in less sun than usual. I know these look superb out in the sun all day in the ground in FL but I don't think it's able to acclimate well, back to significant sun after being inside for winter. Not as colorful, but so much happier looking. Finding the sweet spot, at least 1 summer, is one of my fav. things.

First thing in the morning, it's hard to not love Tradescantias. The glistening drops of guttation, and blooms on T. sillamontana.

I'm quite impressed with the Golden Phothos. I have some growing in low light conditions and when I say low light I mean literally almost no light in plant terms and they still grow although the leaves don't grow as big and they do lose there variegation but still look green and healthy and keep growing.

If I were to place a ZZ Plant in the same place it would not do as well. The ZZ plant is another one of my favorites.

I would like to try lucky bamboo in my aquarium but I can't seem to find any this year.

I don't know why but I'm obsessed with tradescantias. There's so many different varieties and I love some of the rare ones. I ordered a bunch of cuttings of the pink variety and I hope I can get them to grow. I think this scrawny little plant is so beautiful.

The second picture is how I received it from the grower 3 weeks ago. I didn't think it was going to make it it was so burnt but look at it now!

Thanks for clearing that up I must have misread it. I could have sworn that water melons needed full sun like any fruit bearing plant.

Another house plant that I had totally forgotten about was the Chinese Evergreen plant I know there are different varieties. I've read good things about them. I don't own any but have always wanted one. The garden centers and hardware stores around here never have any.
