I moved our database storage to a new server this morning and I may have to tune things to get it running smoothly. If you notice problems this morning... that's why.

Home page is sometimes doing Error342.
I don't know if their weird symbol names were always there? It seems to keep happening with names that have the ' symbol? IDK
I migrated from MyISAM tables to InnoDB this morning and there might have been an encoding change that caused this. It would also affect symbols like copyrights and trademarks in the plants database. I'm investing it right now.
I don't believe this has been reported yet (and if it has, I should get some new glasses or read slower one...).
But, there are some odd characters appearing with the plant information in the database (see under soil pH and temperature). I only checked three plants, but two had the odd characters (so not sure why the third was unaffected).
Yes I mentioned this in my post above. You can scroll up to see it.
@Australis I think I have fixed the encoding of all the entries in the plants database. I'm working on the forum posts now. If you or anyone else sees any strange characters anywhere in the plants database starting now, please let me know.
Update: I have moved Garden.org itself to another machine. You probably didn't notice because there was only a few seconds of downtime during the move. As always, if you see any oddities please do let me know.
For those curious, I think I mentioned this before but I'm doing hardware and software upgrades this week. That means I had to move Garden.org to a temporary server so I can go remove and work on the main machine that runs this site.
When this work is all done, we'll have a faster and better Garden.org that'll last us well into the future.
