So…as usual, I have many beautiful new plants ordered for 2023. Just can't seem to help myself! So here's a thread for people to share what they are expecting to plant in their garden in 2023 ( Spring or Fall ). And Orion, for what it's worth, I'm still taking some trips, despite my Daylily buying habits!

I'm going to go alphabetically with the new cvs, posting five a day, so people don't get burned out.

Absolutely Stellar, Pierce-G, 2019; picking up from Rich Howard at CT Daylilies on my annual visit on the way back from Fire Island

Amanda's Little Red Shoes, Eller-N, 2004
Simonton Bridge Daylilies, being sent in September, as they are in Georgia and I'm sick of importing rust from there

Anna Irene Polston, Polston, 2011
Another one from Rich Howard in August

Barbara Malchow, Lewis-P, 2019
Rich Howard again. There's no photo of this on the data base, so I took this off Rich's site. Apparently it's sold out for this year! I don't know if I got the last one but I'm happy to have her
Thumb of 2022-12-31/Zoia/e6cb25

Blue Eyed Peacock, Gossard, 2019
Aaand…another one from Rich Howard

Ok, lots to add, but five at a time is enough for now!

Boy oh boy, I'm going to love this thread! You're off to a good start Zoia, those are stunning, esp. Barbara Malchow. Although, the form on Blue Eyed Peacock has much to be desired.

Please burn me out, I am so due.
God blessed me with dirt.

I try to limit myself to around 12 new plants each spring and we will see if I make it under that cap or not. Smiling

I am getting some older Davissons to fill in my collection.

I placed an order with Laura (twixanddud) this autumn and decided to let the plants winter with her after she discovered rust in her garden.
I am getting:

and

And then from Bonnie Nichols for August delivery

And Ginny Pearce has reserved Ruby Ribbons for me.

You both have some great ones coming in 2023! Love the smudged/blurry/feathered look of Blue Eyed Peacock. Love Creature of the Night, seen it in other gardens many times. Cupids Cowboy, never seen it before but it's very pretty!
Confessions of a Hemaholic is one of Judy's I've always thought would be nice to grow.

Well the Murder Mystery has been solved. Smiling That was one of the 2 daylilies I was looking for when I posted the "want" list thread. Luckily, Pat (daylily99) had Murder Mystery listed in the fall catalog update posted in the Classified forum and I ordered it. Thumbs up

Beautiful, Zoia!

I am (theoretically) holding off on bringing in very many new ones this year, I have about 600 seedlings to plant this spring and am redesigning two of the gardens, so trying not to add very many. Whistling

So far, I have Bluetiful Butterfly (Gossard 2018) arriving ...

Ring of Power (Benz 2017)

and Cherry Ripples (Stamile 2019) ,

They are shipping in mid-May, so should be good timing to put into the gardens.
Life is what happens while you are making other plans.

Well, after adding so many daylilies last year and the year before, I have no plants ordered for this year. I am currently at 545 named cultivars and over 600 seedlings and that is more than I am capable of managing without overloading myself. So I need to try my best to reduce down to as close to 500 registered plants as I can by culling some of the under performers this year(something we all seem to find so hard to do for some reason). Our club will have guest speakers Jan., Feb., and March this year, they will normally bring plants to auction or sell. I will mostly likely attend the region 14 regional in Mississippi and the National in Tennessee this year so two more great buying opportunities plus I always enjoy doing a few trades.
So even with consciously trying to cut back and not ordering any plants for 2023, the number of buying opportunities will probably result in my having a very difficult time in actually making noticeable reductions in the number of plants I have.

I solve that one by not having any seedlings. I'm ok with letting other people do the work then picking out the ones I really like

Nancy, I have Fangs of Fury. But a similar looking plant, Evermore Teeth ( Grossman-M, 2017, available from Northern Lights) was hands down my highest performing Daylily last summer. It bloomed from June 30-August 2nd, continuously, copiously with well over 100 flowers on just four fans. Plus, it put on four more fans even with all that blooming.

Ok, on to today's show!

Beautiful choices, Zoia. I like them all. Barbara Malchow and Cupid's Cowboy caught my eye.

I will be placing several orders this spring, but the only ones I've already ordered and am expecting are two from Northern Lights, Mayor of Munchkinland:

and War Horse:

I am also expecting Bacon and Eggs from a fellow forum member:

Everyone wants the Mayor! I'll wait a while, his parent Halloween Green ( which I have) is similar enough for now.

And Robin, Blame It On the Rain is on my long term must haves.

Wow awesome lists everyone! I can't wait to see images in the bloom threads this summer. Thumbs up I'm going over a list and still waiting for a few hybridizers to update with their 2023's. I forgot a few over the summer wins that came last fall so there's only a few empty spots this year.

I'm going to have to dig out a bunch more space! Finally finish that lower Daylily Hill project…

Here's Five more!

Fiery Dragon Tears for Jane, Gossard, 2013
Simonton Bridge, September 2023

Granny Brock, Boatwright, 2016
Rich Howard, picking up in August 2023
This one is also now listed as sold out. I'm using Rich's photo as there is none on the data base
Thumb of 2023-01-02/Zoia/dd8191

Greywoods Varsity Blues, Wilkinson, 2019
Interestingly, picking this up from Rich, not Darlyn, August 2023. There's no data base photo, so I'll use Rich's again

Happy New Year everyone. Great idea for a thread. Quick question, is it OK to just use a database photo here or do I need to (or should I) first seek the permission from the person who posted the photo in the database? I'm only asking for the purpose of posting in this daylily forum, not elsewhere or for any other use.
