These come up as several different alternatives in Google Lens, so I am unsure if they're Brunonii ?

I don't see how it could be ID'd from this photo alone. Did you buy it under that name or is it labeled in someone's garden?

I agree, I'm not sure you can ID from the rose hips. A GL search on my end gives many Rosa options but no R. brunonii. You might have to wait till spring to see the flowers.

I noticed Rosehip suggested in the search results as well.

This is the only other shot I have.

Ha, I should have looked closer. Not sure they are roses at all, I was taking your word for it. Hips are the fruit (seed pods) of rose flowers.

Second look, yeah, probably roses. The leaves are throwing me. Where's @Silversurfer ?

I'm not really sure what they are, but I don't think they're Rosehips.

Why not?, you thought they were roses initially.

I don't actually think about it that deeply, so I am not entirely sure.

I got the name from the following:

Those are rose hips but you can't ID what kind of rose it is just from the hips unless there is something unusual about a particular type. For example, Rosa moyesii has an unusual hip.
However, the way the hips are arranged, I would at least guess a small flowered single type that blooms in bunches like multiflora rose.

That is a photo of rosehips.

... so you're just randomly stabbing at pictures without thinking about it? Gosh. Please excuse me, I have other things to tend to. I tip my hat to you.

No, not just stabbing. The pictures aren't without any information. Just trying to show the OP who looks like they are just getting into gardening, learning, excited and having fun. That is how I started out.

They look like rose hips to me but I don't know how to tell if they belong to Mr. Brown's Rose (Rosa brunonii) or some other Rose.

Loretta, that wasn't directed at you, it was in response to the post above yours. Several of us have spent an extraordinary amount of time over a couple of years assisting Aleema and repeatedly explaining the concepts of seed pods, fruiting bodies, buds, etc. So for him/her to say, "I don't actually think about it that deeply, so I am not entirely sure," is a little frustrating.

I'm not sure that Aleema is getting into gardening, I think she is just walking around London taking pictures and then trying to identify the plants, or have us do it if she can't. Do you have a garden of your own, @Aleema ?

@aleema
I despair!
Oh dear here we go again!

Yes that is a rose..just look at the leaves and those thorns.
Those are the seed pods which are called Rose hips.
They come after the plant has flowered.

The American rose society says there are over 40,000 named roses, some no longer in commerce or in existence.

So without seeing what colour the petals are /how many petals it has /what size the flowers are/when in the year it flowers/how tall the plant grows etc etc etc then even an expert in roses would not attempt to give you a name.
It takes a real expert to id Roses from the flowers and all the other clues.

Please just label it Rosa and forget which one it is.
Or start at the beginning and decide you desperately want to learn about all 40,00 roses and join a class all about Roses..starting with the basics.
eg How to id that it a rose when it does not have any flowers.

You must learn to look.
Then go back and really look.
Then go back regularly, to notice how that plant changes during 12 months.
The leaves, the buds, the flowers, the fruits, the bark etc etc.
Stop believing everything on these blinking plant apps.

@LorettaNJ: I tried to find out where the "hip" comes from for these, but Rosa moyesii did pop up as the example that you mentioned in their Wikipedia entry.

@NMoasis: You don't have to post on any of my threads if you don't want to. Nobody does, that takes exception. I like what I like and you likewise. It's that simple. I do try to take on board what people say, but in the end for me it's just the flowers that matter, I'm not in it for anything else.

@sooby: The trouble with communities is there always seems to be hierarchy of intolerance as some use knowledge to suppress others. But you are right, I just like the flowers. Simple and thanks for asking.

I'm not here to take abuse from anybody, so, unless you can identify the plant then you're wasting your time and neither of us want that.

Incidentally, today I came across these (different patch), which I believe to be Rosehips actually blossoming (which I have never witnessed before).

You are absolutely correct, Aleema, we are not obligated to reply to queries on this site, but we do because we love gardening and plants and helping out those who want to learn. And sometimes we put a great deal of time and research into getting the information correct. I have been laboring under the illusion that someone who asks questions actually reads and cares about the answers. My mistake for misunderstanding your intent.

I'll save us both further frustration and refrain from responding to your posts. I apologize for making impatient comments in this thread. No excuse for that.

Yes they look like rose flowers but rosehips are the fruits of roses and don't themselves bloom, they are the result of earlier flowers having been pollinated.

Intolerance/frustration works both ways.

I realise you are on a very steep learning curve.
You find a pretty flower, a berry or a fruit and you want to know what it is.
Most admirable.
People here try to help, patiently, often repeating things over and over.

But you do not seem to be listening or learning.
You still seem to struggle... all plants must produce a flower, then be pollinated before producing seed pods.
1st a pretty rose flower...then later the fruits..called hips.

I have tried to answer you id posts with accurate information...sometimes going into detail...maybe more detail than you want.
For my trouble how often have you actually thanked me for my help?
