I got 'Blackthorne' from G. Wild in April here in zone 7A. I had my first scape 6/8 after it had been in the ground 68 days and the first bloom on 6/27. It performed well with beautiful blooms here. I'm looking forward to seeing it grow into maturity. The image below is from 7/9 as 'Blackthorne' shot up single blooms for about 3 weeks as a first year cultivar that started with a very small fan.

I've had Blackthorne for quite a while. It isn't a great increaser for me here in zone 5a. I must admit though, it is in one of the gardens that usually is the last to get attention. Sometimes gets skipped all together. So this spring I gave all the DL's in that garden a dose of alfalfa pellets. It really perked up this year from that and all the rain we had. I feel guilty for mistreating such a beautiful daylily all these years.

Blackthorne did well here for a few years. It slowly went down hill because of increasing shade. I moved it to a different location this Spring where it got full sun. It is slowly making a comeback. I'm glad to see it doing better because it is one of the better dark-eyed cultivars. There is nice contrast between the eye and the rest of the flower. Only negative is the scape. It could be slightly stronger, and about four inches longer.

I've had Blackthorne for about two seasons. It had to be moved in May when a tree fell down near it. It seems to like it's new location just fine. It's been increasing and bloomed very prettily for most of July. I don't mind that it's short, that makes it a front of the border plant.

Update on Blackthorne. Still doing fine, I didn't notice a huge increase, it seems to be content to stay the same size.

It bloomed from July 4 to July 24 this summer, very consistent blooms, untroubled by temperature or rain. I love a nice dark eye and this cv has that.

Another good year for Blackthorne. It bloomed from July 6-25 with 22 blooms. It is at 4 fans now, having started from a tiny G Wild single fan in 2018. Not fast increase, by any means, but slow and steady.

I bought 'Blackthorne' from Wild in 2020 during early COVid times as a stay -at-home project. In Victoria TX, it bloomed the first year and has not increased. It is still a handsome flower. This Daylily takes a lot of beating at the corner of a raised bed by a driveway and walkway that gets a lot of disturbance.

Blackthorne has a beautiful, jumbo bloom on a very short sturdy scape on a busy corner. 2020-2023 South Texas. It has not increased very much. We've had lots of unusual freezes.

2023 update…this flower is a very slow increased. Since 2020, it has only doubled, putting it at 4 fans. I had a decent bloom this year, July 3-20, with at least 26 blooms, probably more as I was gone for a few days in there. I wish that it bloomed for longer!
