Kate that's beautiful....Did you do the walkway yourself? Are they set in sand? My garden isn't entirely flat, it's curvey and slopey, so except in my fantasies, I'm not sure brick would work....but my fantasies defy physics.

That's alright, as we can imagine anything!

It is almost fall now and I can see that I would like to have a number of trees and shrubs with colorful fall foliage included in the "bones" of the garden design. It is nice to have that contrast when there are fewer plants in flower. Of course there would be a number of plants that did have fall blooms as well.

It is the first thing I learned is to start with the garden bones early on when I started to garden. Then I started looking for winter interest items and evergreen,

Hi Empress
Thank you ! Yes, did the work by myself. The foundation is slag sand both under the bricks (6" bed, tamped down) and swept between the bricks when the job is finished.
Also, while my terrain is level, I did lay the walkway up and over a mound of dirt covering a drain tile. It worked great.

I would be full of joy if I had this home and English garden!
Of course I should need to be able to afford 2 fulltime gardeners
for this garden!

I like the formal look of this or it is in my eyes..
since I love hats and love flower blooms....this is really
a beautiful estate and garden to me!

It would be in Hawaii, with banana and coconut, spaths and hoya, local artisan accents, a tiny green house and a rain barrel. Maybe a tree house.

What a great question..
If money was no problem I would restructure the support beams in my roof and plant all kinds of succulents , cacti, Sedum, Sempervivum and moss and local small plants. Install a green roofing system and hire a maintenance pro. I have dreamed of this for years...
Oh yeah.... Lovey dubby I can see it in my minds eye... Grin

That would be a good plan for me with my deer, rabbits, groundhogs problem. All I would have to worry about is the rats with dressed in cute outfits you know the squirrels, Smiling
