Evan, they have a new strain of early phlox that Jo and I have been getting. They are shorter, though, don't pack quite the same punch. They run up to about 3'. The Flame series is one. Huge breeding progress in phlox from the Netherlands.

Supposedly, if they get mildew it's later than bloom, and they can be cut back after bloom.

That's great information Polly, thank you. Now that I know what to look for I see the flame Phlox all over the place. The fact that they're shorter is an added bonus for my garden. I noticed phlox just started opening yesterday.
