Thanks for including veggie blooms! Didn't think about that. My toms have been blooming a while now. Wish I had noted exactly when.

I don't know why, but I have 2 'Christmas but probably Thanksgiving' cactus plants that have started to bloom again. Haven't fed them. Watered them now and then. But never had repeat bloomers before. And while I've somehow managed to lose track, only 1 could possibly be new this year.

So here's the one that's inside by a sunny window. (moved to take the picture)

Thumb of 2019-05-02/tx_flower_child/dc8c3c Thumb of 2019-05-02/tx_flower_child/18e1f6

And then I noticed one that's outside. We'll see if I actually get a bloom from it. Right now just little buds.

I have wanted an Easter cactus so in a way, I guess I have a couple.

I don't think my dyckia has ever bloomed. I divided it recently and put some in a more sunny area. They are looking awfully pale. The ones in full shade look much better. I love fragrant plants, too, but the only ones I have are four o clocks. And herbs but they don't count.

@pod, do you have deer? Do they leave the allium blooms alone? I keep meaning to try some in the front.

I can't answer if they would dine on Alliums. Yes there are deer here but not in the yard. I have about an acre under fence and three vintage Labs that live with me. Also there is so much forage here for the deer we would not have the same issues that you would. I some times wonder if they are looking for moisture in your area as much as food.

@tx_flower_child ~ I love your "May Day" Christmas cacti! Especially love that color of bloom. Lovey dubby Lucky you!

I've wondered the same thing. I can walk to the lake in 5 minutes but I have never once seen a deer by the water. They seem to stay close to their home territory. I believe that is why I see things growing a few streets over that they will eat in my yard. My deer like it and their deer don't. Shrug!

I dumped out an ice chest beside my driveway once an they enjoyed it. I've considered putting water out for them in an effort to see if they would go for that instead of plants. But I fear it would just make the situation worse.

Perhaps there is more nutrients in your soil or maybe you fertilize? Or maybe they just like your landscape. Big Grin

Pretty blooms, Everyone! Flowers are the epitome of springtime!

@Tx-flower-child. I love your cactus blooms. I always have trouble with my holiday cactuses. They plant them in solid peat here in the nurseries. And with such fragile tiny roots, I find it nearly impossible to replace the soil. Though I have had successful blooms, it's impossible to keep them alive in peat. They usually rot away.

I do have Easter Cactus cuttings from a friend. It's doing well. But it has never bloomed?? I have just decided they are to much work for me. But I will try hard to keep this one alive.

Thank you. The agave is an Americana. It was given to me without a name other than Americana.

I also have some Agave salmiana hybrids that I absolutely love. They are four years old now and six by six feet wide. The leaves are big and fat.

Your Easter cactus looks good, especially in that container. I'd say it's got a head start but don't want to make anyone groan.

I don't know why it's so hard, at least around here, to find an Easter cactus. I suppose some of the high end nurseries might have them for big $$$.

Except for the one I got last season and cleverly didn't label because 'I'll always remember' or because 'I'll do it later', I know that mine didn't ever come in peat. The rare times that I've had to pot one up, I just used whatever potting soil that was handy. From my experience, admittedly limited, they like to be rootbound.
I had/have one for 20+ years. Never got too big because I never fed it and only occasionally watered it. I'm sure if I treated them better I'd have some really large plants. But peat? Don't think so.

I'm always surprised and happy when one of mine blooms every year. But I have never had one bloom twice like these are doing. Maybe the cactus fairy Never mind.

@Esperanza ~ lovely blooms. I really like the way the colors echo in the last photo. Unusual combination of bromeliad and salvia(?). Nice Lovey dubby

@ShadyGreenThumb I love that container with your Easter cactus in it. Thumbs up Rather than try to remove the peat from one of these plants, I think I would just take lots of cuttings and root them in a suitable potting soil. They will root and grow easily.

It is fun to see all the different types of plants grown throughout the state. I do admire them all (and lust after some). Whistling

@pod the salvia is vibe ignition purple and is suppose to be a more compact salvia. We will see. I just got two of them this spring. So far I am loving them. They also echo with salvia Amistad. The bromeliad is being adjusted to full sun and will be moved somewhere else once it colors up more, but for now I like the way it looks with the salvia and variegated duranta. Thanks.
