That does sound logical! Either that or they see pets moving around in there.

I wonder if they don't smell food. We humans are pretty smelly. I am sure that they must be able to smell our kitchen garbage cans. Most animals have amazing olfactory senses.

We live in the woods and two of my neighbors have small natural lakes on their properties, part of a creek that flows through all of our properties. One has had 2 separate alligators at different times in his lake every since we moved out here in 2003. They have never done anything bad though LOL

Hey, here's a much more in depth article about that gator. You can listen to the 911 calls as well.
The woman is 77 years old & she sat in her BR playing video games while officers responded & trappers got the gator. Can you believe it? I gotta tell you, I would not be as cool as a cucumber to play video games with all that going on inside my house.

And Sherri gets the gold star! The gator was bar hopping.

After a warm winter and now with record-breaking summer heat — the kind of weather iguanas thrive in — the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has declared open season on the exotic reptile.

"The FWC encourages homeowners to kill green iguanas on their own property whenever possible," the commission recently wrote on its website. "Iguanas can also be killed year-round and without a permit on 22 public lands in south Florida."

I am not a vegetarian but still, I'll pass on the iguana tasting.

My motto is whenever they say it tastes like chicken, then I'll have chicken please. Hilarious!

My gosh that thing is ugly. We saw them all over down in the Keys, had to ride my bike around them on the sidewalks. Glad we don't have them here, although if this warmer weather keeps up they may move this way. Crying

I definitely have to be on watch for those. I'd hate to lose a dog. We have so many frogs, lizards and toads out here already. Did you read about the guy in Australia who apparently ate a gecko on a dare (I am assuming raw, ewww yuck) contracted Salmonella and died?

Yeah I saw that article about the gecko eating man. Not smart. Don't eat anything you can't be sure is ok to eat. That should be a no brainer.

Wow, I didn't know about the BUFO toad, that one is gigantic. Reptiles sure grow big down south.
My dog loves to chase the lizards, most the frogs stay hidden in the day when she's outside, and we're usually out with her. I really don't think she'd bite one, but certainly glad to know about that one...would relocate it for sure.

We already deal with Cuban tree frogs and they can get really big. Many years ago I went to take a shower and one was on the wall in my shower, as big as my hand. We have no idea how it got in there as it is far from any outside doors, but husband believes it could have come up through the sewer line....remember the woman who found a snake in her toilet????
