Peppermint

A popular mint for herbalists and home gardeners. Can be used in teas, candies and home cooking. I use it as an insect repellent in mixed perennial beds. This is not scientific, but I believe it repels voles and mice also; just my own thoughts. It works for me. Can be invasive so please take note.

I'm not sure what inspired me to make this banner. Mints are refreshing on a hot summer day. Sometimes I pinch off a leaf and crush it in my hand just for that minty fragrance. A sprig goes well in a glass of ice cold tea after a blistering, humid day in the garden. Mints attract numerous butterflies (and bees) which feed from the blooms. The 3rd picture is the photo I took the banner from.

Great banner Leon! I recognized that it was mint immediately. So refreshing. Hurray!

And timely. Today is definitely mint day for me. A neighbor gave me some of her "mountain" mint and I bought some sweet mint. Always have a container or two around.

A banner that is in Mint condition!! Love it and the informative write-up. I am experimenting with Chocolate Mint by growing it in a container so the root system would be stymied and in control. The rascal plant certainly can become somewhat "hoggish" in the garden.
