Cheez, Jennifer, you have actual shelves for your pot ghetto? That's what I call class. I try to hide and camouflage mine, although part of that is functional to keep them out of direct sun. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Susan, to clarify my post, I did not say that plants had to be removed from their pots in order to either have a good home or to beautify the world... Green Grin!

Well Greene, I have a multi-location ghetto like you do. Here goes:
All the way along the front walk and up the steps and on the front stoop; hope no one plans to use the front door:

Thumb of 2014-07-09/foraygardengirl/2f3caa

Thumb of 2014-07-09/foraygardengirl/019ae8

Then there's under the tree in front - this includes an actual pot that I can't find a place for yet, so I guess it's also a "pot pot ghetto?":

Thumb of 2014-07-09/foraygardengirl/2eee70

Then we have another big one at the back of my border along the alley, which includes a big stack of bags of manure:

Thumb of 2014-07-09/foraygardengirl/6777c3

And a couple pots of daylilies hiding under the burning bush:

Thumb of 2014-07-09/foraygardengirl/8ed0e9

And a few hostas sort of blending into the shade garden:

Thumb of 2014-07-09/foraygardengirl/8152e2

I wonder if I've forgotten any? Oh yeah, a few pots under the bushes left from last year *Blush*
Thumb of 2014-07-09/foraygardengirl/0cebb0

I do actually have plans for all of these (except last year's pots full of weeds), as I am going to revise the whole area at the back of the house. Should have had it done by now though. And haven't gotten my procrastinator's badge yet,either.... Whistling

Good work! You're a shining example to us all!

But I'm not sure ... the front walk and steps look suspiciously decorative - almost not a pot ghetto at all! Is there a rule that "if it looks too good", it's not a ghetto? We've seen many well-organized ghettos, but your front walk and steps look more like a garden ... in pots.

>> so I guess it's also a "pot pot ghetto?"

Or is it a "pot ghetto ghetto"?
"Pot pot ghetto ghetto ghetto"?

Now I'm confused. It's like spelling "banana" or "Barbara".

Well, I have some good news and some bad news.
I arrived home from not buying any plants and not diving in any dumpsters to find a huge pile of pots and plants in my front yard. It looked as if someone had taken all my pots and piled them up for the trash man. Shrug! Confused

I asked my daughter who had no idea where the pots came from. Blinking

Then I saw the Sago palms and I knew this was a surprise gift from my friend Elijah.Thumb of 2014-07-09/greene/f99e94

Sorry I didn't think to take a photo of the 'gift' before we started sorting. My daughter pitched in to give me a hand and together we worked for 2 hours, sorting and stacking pots, deciding that some were cracked or otherwise unfit for service, discovering there were lily plants and many other hidden surprises that needed to be potted up. And as the sky darkened we quickened our pace to beat the rain. Took these photos as the thunder started.

But what's the bad news?

You pot ghetto has reached critical mass and now it doubles in size all by itself.
"Really, I DIDN'T buy any new plants!! They just ... appeared one day. Who knows how?"

That's even better than "they must have sneaked into my car while I wasn't watching."

P.S. It sounds like you don't need this, but two flimsy pots, or pots with small cracks, can be made into one very sturdy pot with no cracks by cleaning them and nesting them so the cracks are on opposite sides. That way you don't even need duct tape (but it adds strength).

Greene, you are more right than you know. I forgot one box of sedum that is on the other side of the yard!
Don't even ask about pots. I have probably a thousand of them stacked up in boxes only garage.
Rick, I gotta remember this one: "they must have sneaked into my car when I wasn't watching." Blinking
Maybe in addition to a procrastinator's badge we should also have a hoarder's badge. Seems like we could qualify for that. We could collect them!

Jeanie, it sounds like you have a pretty advanced case!

I would suggest that members should hold interventions for us, but that's been tried. They call them "round-ups", and EVERYONE goes home with more plants than they started with.

I hope our pot ghettos don't have to look bad. Because of the cement cloth thread in the Containers forum, my pot collection is growing. But I think it is great because I am making all the pots myself. However, I think my procrastination habit won't ever let me make enough pots to get rid of all the pots I have collected. But it will make the pot ghetto a little less scary and the pots I make won't blow around in the wind.

I agree that Jeanie's pots look so nice and neat. There should be a super-tidy pot ghetto badge for that. I know that is a badge I'd be a big liar if I got it. I learned long ago that tidy and gardening just don't go together for me. Any tidiness in my garden is purely by accident and does not last long.

Oh, is that a pentas in the bottom left corner of the pots on the steps?

Susan, other than the plants I am contributing to my friend, these are mine...all mine Green Grin!
My pots are lined up along my walk so that they are shaded and so I can water them easily. I do not pretend to be a neatnik. Gardening is definitely a dirty sport. My finger and toe nails turn black in early summer and stay that way until after fall cleanup and I have a big mess behind my garage. *Blush*
Ckat, I don't have any pentas in the group. Might be Cotton Candy pink stachys? Someone just put them in my car when I wasn't looking.....

Pots do end up in the cart/car if you are not paying attention...I wonder sometimes if little green men are bringing them to my yard at night, seems like I wake up with more that there was yesterday....
