My proposal is to enable the use of the BB code tag [img].
Then what you would do is embed your off-site image thusly:
[img]http://www.example.com/path/to/your/image.jpg[/ img]
And then I would handle it from there.
Is that how you were imagining this would work?
Haven't read the entire thread yet, but this is what *I* would want, because it's what I'm used to. And I would also want it available in the blogs. I've been storing my photos in my online gallery since 2002, and I hate not being able to just grab one when I'm wanting to show it off ... heaven only knows where it is on my 2 PCs and 4 hard drives.
eta: and my gallery's not photobucket or any of the other common ones -- it's more fun to be different. But it does support the standard img tags, so no hassle there.

That's a good clue that it's probably operator error
