I have a new plant from O'tooles Nursery in the cactus area.
I have tried to add to database but cannot seem to get it to go

There is a lot of chatter on the web, but cannot find a scientific. It is a tiny plant about 1-1 1/2 Inches and is marked Aloe Helen Haage. Looks like some grow to huge size. But am in the wrong zone for outdoor growth .

I found something that said Gasteraloe 'Helen Haage' Looks like 'Katherine McDonald' but leaves are more densely tubercled. Looks like a hybrid of A. juvenna and G. batesiana. Grows a stem covered with leaves that are a green gold colour, covered with golden pearly tubercles.

Family Aloaceae, Genus: Gasterealoe, Synonym:X Gastrolea
Synonym:Aloe gastrolea , Category:Cactus and Succulents

Thanks for all your help I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you.
Marilyn

Any help is appreciated!!!!! I'm all ears! Thumb of 2012-06-05/CDsSister/8ba3ad

I found several online references for a Gasteraloe 'Helen Haage'. Gasteraloes are hybrids, a mix of Gasteria and Aloe. There are a few entries for X Gasteraloe. http://garden.org/plants/searc...
I created the entry here for you. Gasteraloe (XGasteraloe 'Helen Haage')

And I forgot to add that many of these are hard to ID when still small.

I think it would be fine since it was labeled as such, especially since a cultivar name was added to the label. It could have been just labeled 'aloe' or 'gasteraloe' but with the cultivar name, it most likely is correct. But adding photos as it grows and then checking it with experts or other online shots of mature ones would be a great idea.

By the way do you know what "Crisp packing peanuts" are? I'm all ears!

I bought some packing peanuts a couple of years ago to put in bottom of a planter and they turned to jelly. Grumbling

Of course the plants all sank down too. UGLY!!

Crisp packing peanuts are not biodegradable, they wont melt. If uncertain put one in a bowl of water and see if it melts. It should also give you information on the bag when buying them, what type the are.

OK we got the plant identified as a new hybrid of Gasteraloe.

Although this is tiny now, It is said to get as tall as 7 feet and as big as 12 inches wide, more if clustered.

I think I better get a bigger pot nodding Look at it in a teacup planter-->>

I cleared out the species field, you don't list the plant cross there. You can add that in the comments section. Thumbs up
