I think the sculpted form of the 3 fall JI are more classic. If you want ruffles, grow roses.

OMG Connie, what a blaze that must be. Don't know where to start. Indigo Delight, does it keep that flared form? Is the color really that intense?

Jo Ann, love seeing your latest wc of Chiyo-no-haru.

Indigo Delight does keep its flared form. The blue is a medium blue, not real dark, and of course it lightens with age. When I hold a petal up to the light I can see both wine red and blue color.

Two new seedlings bloomed this year from my cross Freckled Geisha seedling X Summer Splash. Freckled Geisha seedling is most likely Freckled Geisha X Electric Glow. I started with four seedlings and lost one over the winter. Hope the third one blooms next year. All of my Freckled Geisha seedlings were similar in color and pattern to FG but had varying widths of the band.

Pod parent Freckled Geisha seedling:

Thumb of 2012-06-28/pardalinum/eda587 Thumb of 2012-06-28/pardalinum/5caba6

Edit: I removed photo of Freckled Peacock seedling X Summer Splash #1 as it was actually a repost of the pod parent Freckled Geisha seedling. I don't see a replacement photo on my drive but the photo with both seedlings #1 and 2 are correct.

Freckled Geisha seedling X Summer Splash #2, freshly opened (note narrower band, but otherwise similar:

Thumb of 2012-06-28/pardalinum/65905c

Both seedlings together, blooms more mature, #1 on left:

Thumb of 2012-06-28/pardalinum/81eb7f

I really can't tell any difference between seedling #1 and its pod parent Freckled Geisha seedling.

They are similar in color and pattern, but all are beautiful and worthy of a garden spot. I especially like the one with the more white in it.

Susan, Pard might know about the Pink Ringlets. They seem to get different plants on the left coast.

Susan, almost all of my Japanese irises are from Aitken's but I see they are not carrying it this year nor Ensata Gardens in Michigan. But Ensata carries more JIs than anyone and there are many other pinks available, some better than others. Many so called pinks look more lavenderish. Hybridizers have been working hard for true pinks.

Ensata Japanese iris list (watch out and be warned!!):

Wondering about bloom size. Crystal Halo is about the same size as Lion King here. Oriental eyes is about 2/3rds the size, Silverband about 1/2 the size. Not noted in registration info. What do you think?

Thanks for the information, I found Ensata and Aitken's and bookmarked them both. I was looking around at Ensata and saw some possibilities,

Dirigo Pink Milestone
Lady in Pink
Oriental Lady
Pinkerton

Do you know if any of these are true pink??

I haven't grown any of those but Ensata describes Pinkerton as "...the truest pink we have bloomed."

I've been looking at the pics of Stella Niagara. Those first 2 photos show an amazing. Does anyone know of a JI that holds that form? The bloom progression pics are really helpful too.

Evan, I think the form you are referring to is what they call "vertically arched". They don't seem to mention the form in catalog descriptions but you can kind of tell if there is a photo.

Vertically arched, nice descriptive name. Thanks. I'll have to remember for the next buying binge.

I think Stella Niagra would have worked well with the dandelion seed ballerinas in Fantasia. Blinking Must be too late to post.
