there was a 4th.. but it broke in the storm we had the other day.. it's alternanthera raspberry rum.. I am finding out even though they classify it as a full sun plant.. it's looking better in my part shade areas.. that spot gets sun from 11 - dusk now that I lost the tree in front.. boy it's a big difference without that tree there.. they are bleaching out big time in the box.. here is one in maybe 4 hours of sun.. much better there
I was calling them coleus for the sun.. guess that one is not the shorter ones that are planted in front & top of the box are doing better.. actually the true yellow one.. is turning yellow up there.. and staying green in my part shade spots.. there was another I had years prior .. called party time.. pink & green.. they grow almost like coleus and root like them as well.. very easy plants
Yes, they just sit there and do nothing. We have been so cold this spring with rain most days. We have only had a few days in the 80's mostly 50-60. Today may get to 70 but it rained last night and everything is wet. I'm having problems getting my coleus out and growing. I put them out once and the leaves started falling off, that was late May. They are starting to recover now. Hard to see that happen when you have had them in your kitchen for 9 months. Just going to do a few this fall of my fav. and best growing.
sounds like I should move there!!!.. amazing you are a warmer zone and cooler than we are.. yes it's always depressing to see your babies suffer.. I don't usually move mine out until June 1st.. but this year was exceptionally warm.. then got cool again.. so in the GH they went.. but out early this year for sure.. I lost a bunch of things with the heavy rains we had for days and days and days.. some seedlings just rotted.. and hardier ones like the torenia.. was a strange year for sure
This is our 3rd cold spring. We don't have the extremes you do. What ya going to do but, take what you get. I like hot weather if I get to play in the water other wise not for me.
learned something too.. kiwi fern grows too slowly for them think they are going to get swallowed up soon.. a friend gave them to me.. and I liked the colors mixed together.. not a good one for the sides.. live & learn as always
took the best pics I could with the ankle didn't bother taking any of the box in front.. the deer destroyed most of it all the sweet potato vines & impatiens are just sticks now
I dumped my 2 bloommasters in the compost a couple of weeks ago. Nothing was doing well, they looked awful. I like to think that's heat/drought related rather than due to my black thumb.
I never remember a worse garden year with more losses.
